A line of strong thunderstorms will quickly move from interior sections of South Florida across the East Coast Metro areas around 2 PM. Torrential rainfall, wind gusts to near 50 mph, and possibly small hail will occur with this line as it moves through. This line will then move into the Atlantic coastal waters and special marine warnings will likely be needed.

Rest of Today...Cloudy with showers and chance of thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Highs in the lower 80s. Southeast winds around 10 mph becoming south later in the afternoon. Chance of rain 90 percent.
Tonight...Mostly cloudy. Showers likely and chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then slight chance of showers. Cooler. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall in the evening. Lows in the lower 60s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Saturday...Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 70s. West winds 5 to 10 mph becoming around 15 mph in the afternoon.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
western Broward County in Southeast Florida...
northwestern Miami-Dade County in Southeast Florida...
southwestern Palm Beach County in Southeast Florida...
southeastern Hendry County in southern Florida...
east central Collier County in southwest Florida...
* until 200 PM EST
* at 111 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing penny size
hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were
located along a line extending from 3 miles west of rotenberger
wildlife management area to 6 miles west of mile marker 60 on
Alligator alley... and moving east at 40 mph.
* The line of storms will affect...

Holey Land Wildlife Management Area...
Collier/Broward line and Alligator alley...
east Toll Gate on Alligator alley...
intersection of US 27 and Alligator alley...
and surrounding communities.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Frequent lightning is occurring with this thunderstorm. If
outdoors... stay away from isolated high objects such as trees and
avoid water. Move indoors or inside a vehicle if possible. Avoid
using the telephone unless it is an emergency. Try to unplug
unnecessary electrical appliances before the thunderstorm approaches.
Report severe weather or damage to the nearest law enforcement agency
or your County emergency management. They will relay your report to
the National Weather Service forecast office in Miami.

Areal Flood Watch
Issued by the National Weather Service at 9:06 am EST on March 12, 2010
... Flood Watch in effect until 7 PM EST this evening...
The National Weather Service in Miami has expanded the
* Flood Watch to include the following areas... coastal
Broward... coastal Collier... coastal Miami Dade... far South
Miami Dade... inland Broward... inland Collier... inland Miami
Dade... Mainland Monroe... Metro Broward and Metro Miami Dade.
* Until 7 PM EST this evening
* a boundary currently located west to east between Alligator
alley and Tamiami Trail could serve as the focusing mechanism
for heavy rains to develop across the area later today. An
additional area of rainfall is likely to move across the area
from the Gulf of Mexico. Although rainfall amounts are forecast
to be in the 1 t0 3 inch range... moisture amounts in the
atmosphere are running much higher than normal. The slow moving
boundary in combination with additional moisture moving in from
the Gulf means that the possibility exists for very heavy
rainfall to develop across portions of the area today. This
could lead to local rainfall amounts much higher than forecast
which could result in flooding.
Therefore... given this possibility and the uncertainty with the
forecast a Flood Watch is now in effect for the area through 7
PM tonight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

... A line of strong thunderstorms moving across southwest Palm Beach
to western Broward and eastern Collier counties...
At 115 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 4 miles northwest of
South Bay to rotenberger wildlife management area to Carnestown...
moving east at 40 mph.
These storms will affect...
Collier County rest area on Alligator alley...
mile marker 60 on Alligator alley...
Belle Glade...
Big Cypress National Preserve...
Collier/Broward line and Alligator alley...
Miccosukee service Plaza...
And surrounding communities.
The primary impact will be gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph... which can
down small tree limbs and branches... and blow around unsecured small
objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storms pass.

details or updates.
